Go Bananas

For a quick, easy breakfast on the go, bananas are ideal: they are packed with vitamins, potassium and fibre. They’re a perfect way to boost your energy levels and with a low glycaemic index (GI) value they'll keep you fuelled for longer!

Think variety!

Have something you never had before for breakfast. This will not only be tasty but will help you be more creative in other things you do too. Think protein and you will be set up for the day.

Make breakfast a special occasion

Make breakfast for someone you love. Or better still, have someone you love make breakfast for you. Make a big deal of the first meal of the day by dressing the table with you best crockery and cutlery and put some flowers on the table.

Treat yourself

As a way of treating yourself, have breakfast at your favourite café. Pick the healthy options on the menu and feel good about yourself. Soak up the ambience and enjoy being served.

Give it a shake!

Don't skip breakfast. But if you'd rather not eat, have a healthy shake instead. A handful of frozen strawberries blended with a banana and mixed some low fat yoghurt will give you a healthy breakfast packed with vitamins and calcium. Perfect for a healthy start.

Keep it green

Don't forget to use vegetables at breakfast time. Have a bright and healthy vegetable juice made from seasonal greens, celery, orange, apple - with ginger and lime for some life enhancing zing. It's packed not just with the vitamins you need for a healthy lifetyle but also rich in fibre.

Power breakfast

Blast some blueberries and raspberries in a blender; then combine with fruit juice, natural yogurt and a little honey for a super-healthy and super powerful start to the day.

Think protein

If you have a long day ahead, think protein for breakfast. It will sustain you until lunch and beyond. Think eggs: perhaps softly boiled with some asparagus dippers. Get the recipe here.

Exotic breakfast

For a bright start, imagine that you are on a desert island and make yourself an exotic breakfast cocktail. Mix your favourite fruit juices and add a splash of grenadine for an added touch of glamour.

Energy all day

A bowl of porridge first thing in the morning is an extremely good way to set yourself up for the day. Why? Because it contains masses of protein, B vitamins and slow-releasing energy.

Time for tea

Swap your normal breakfast tea for peppermint or green tea. Both are high in natural antioxidants. Antioxidents are believed to fight free radicals which can cause ageing.

Five a Day

Incorporate fruit and vegetables into your breakfast to get one of your five a day. Fruit and vegetables contain vitamins, fibre and naturally occuring plant chemicals called phytochemicals. Why not try our delicious Mexican Tortilla recipe to help you along the way?

Squeeze in a juice

A small glass of unsweetened fruit juice (150ml), counts as one of your 5 a day, why not try this recipe?

Orange, pink grapefruit, lime & raspberry juice.

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 pink grapefruit
  • 2 limes
  • 110g raspberries

Simply juice the fruit, pour into glass, add a couple of ice cubes and enjoy!

Wholegrain

Squeeze more fibre into your breakfast by choosing wholegrain breads and cereals. When grains are refined, the outer bran and germ layers of the grain are stripped away. But these layers are where most of the fibre and many of the nutrients are concentrated. Get rid of these bits and you lose a lot of goodness!

Breakfast Banquet

Have a 3-course breakfast. You could start with granola and yoghurt, followed by a protein packed egg white omelette and finish with some palette cleansing strawberries. All the goodness you need for a great start to the day.
